Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), meaning the transmission of digital television over the Internet or local area IP networks, is becoming increasingly important. IPTV not only allows for serving millions of users with broadband content, but also provides transmission of content in local area networks.
Today, hotels need to offer a large variety of in-room services to their customers. Entertainment with live TV is an important asset. The same is true for cruise ships, healthcare, and residential estates. Whith the ubiquity of IP networks, purely IP based TV services can be realized, which allows for a larger selection of TV channels and digital high-quality streams in SD and HD resolution - and all at reduced costs.

With IPTV servers by Motama, DVB feeds can be converted for IP networking. These IPTV streams then serve set-top boxes and displays in guest rooms, the lobby area, restaurants, bars and pubs.
While traditional DVB gateways only support multicast networking, IPTV servers by Motama also work with existing equipment only supporting unicast networking. In addition, traditional DVB gateways are restricted to only provide the same choice of pre-selected TV channels to all guest. With IPTV servers by Motama, privileged guest in suites can be offered a specific list of TV channels (e.g. including foreign channels) by enabling full access of DVB input for a certain room.
