Motama is specialized in designing and developing distributed and networked multimedia systems – spanning from embedded and mobile systems, to PCs, to large-scale computing clusters. The company's key technology provides a ground-breaking new software solution – called Network-Integrated Multimedia Middleware (NMM) – that drives innovative products in home entertainment, building technologies, content distribution, and other application areas.
The Network-Integrated Multimedia Middleware (NMM) is the result of six years of research at the Computer Graphics Lab at Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany. It enables mobile and networked multimedia applications without artificial boundaries. Arbitrary networking technologies and various operating systems, like Windows and Linux, are supported, which allows for cross-platform development. Using this unique technology, all available distributed devices can be connected and controlled tranparently. This results in completely new 'virtual' devices: For example, a commodity mobile phone can become a radio receiver or the same video recording can be displayed on three TV sets simultaneously. The developed NMM software is released under licenses that allow to use it within commercial products as well as within Open Source and research projects.
Motama is a spin-off from Saarland University, Germany, founded in 2005. Motama is founded and headed by Dr. Marco Lohse, Michael Repplinger, and Prof. Dr. Philipp Slusallek. Motama offers product development, licensing of NMM technology, and support in developing custom modules and applications based on NMM.
